We know you’ve been patiently waiting, and the Pavan Sangria Challenge Final Event is almost here! On February 5th, we’re heading to the Bowery Hotel to taste and savor five of the best sangrias in the nation to see which one will take home the grand prize: a trip for two to anywhere in the world! We’ve put our favorite bartenders to the test, and they met the challenge head on. Here’s who will be serving up their creations:
Lindsay Matteson of Amor y Amargo in NYC, serving sangria inspired by the spice and citrus of Morocco.
Cricket Nelson of the Broken Shaker in Miami Beach, FL, serving sangria inspired by the colors, scents and flavors of India.
Jared Anderson of Comstock Saloon in San Francisco, serving sangria inspired by the white woods and calm landscape of Iceland.
Brittini Rae Peterson of Goldie’s in LA, serving sangria inspired by the water-locked paradise of Bora Bora.
Nathaniel Fletcher of Neat Bar in LA, serving sangria inspired by the story of Romeo and Juliet, set in Verona, Italy.
Of course, we’re bringing in the big guns to judge these incredible concoctions – and it’s going to be tough! Our final event judges are:
Gaz Regan, Cocktail Writer/Author
Allen Katz, Director of Mixology & Spirits Education for Southern Wine & Sprits of New York
John DeBary, Bar Director of Momofuku
Pamela Wiznitzer, President of USBG New York
Amanda Sidman, Today Show
David Blend, Thrillist
Susan Waits, PureWow
Bao Ong, NY Times, Gotham, T&L, & freelance work
We have incredible competitors every step of the way, but the final event is going to bring the gauntlet… and we can’t wait! Stay tuned for the announcement of the winner!
